Oranga Whanau

Our kaupapa focuses on uplifting the mauri (life force) of our people through meaningful work connected to mātauranga Māori (Māori knowledge) and aims to help whanau uncover their limitless potential.

Te Ao Māori is our worldview, placing tikanga and mātauranga Māori at the centre of our vision, purpose, and mahi.

Oranga Whanau delivers a number of services which aim to support whanau beyond their current health and social challenges and onto a positive path of thriving.

Te Pūtahi-Nui-o-Rehua is operated by and for Māori with a focus on the rohe of Te Tai Tokerau (Far North District).

Financial Independence

We aim to understand attitudes towards money and identify our client/community needs and wants. We want to recognise debt potential and create a pathway to financial freedom.

Employment Opportunities

We want to motivate whanau to aspire for themselves.  We do this by developing a PATH plan that supports the DREAM and creates opportunities for sustainable employment. This features a step-by-step of tasks and goals to achieve outcomes.

Mental Health and Wellbeing

Te Whare Tapa Whā provides a framework for korero and self-care mahi based on Taha Tinana, Taha Wairua, Taha Hinengaro and Taha Whānau. The intention is to bring about balance so our whare can stand strong.

Rongoa Māori

Whānau are supported with their choice to access traditional healing and Hauora therapies to support and maintain wellness. Tohunga provide Karakia, Whitiwhiti Kōrero, Mirimiri, Mahi a Wairua/whenua, Wai Rākau and Panipani. Whānau gain strength and learn to take responsibility for their well-being.
